Part instrument retailer, part music school, part dance hall, this long time Knox county landmark has been instrumental (pun intended) in binging East Tennessee fun to many. Visitors have come to Ciderville Music Store over the years to hear the music, take a lesson, dance a little, get warm by the fire, and maybe buy a guitar or two to take home. Several famous folks have even performed there and left their mark on the heavily decorated walls.

You learn a lot about the history in this short WBIR Video.

My aunt Wanda Garland (Seasoned Realtor, Award Winning Golfer, Snarky Red Hatter, and overall glamourous Aunt), took me by Ciderville a couple of weeks ago and told me stories about getting cider there, and the music.

We walked in and were treated like family. David’s sister was there behind the counter and their friend opened up the dance hall so I could look around. I was amazed at all the memorabilia on the walls and the Cas Walker shrine near the bandstand. They have concessions with hot dogs and chips and a fireplace to warm up next to.

Music still fills the dance hall every Saturday and you should go enjoy it. It’s family fun and kids generally love it (take their electronics away so everyone can enjoy the mountain music). They also will rent out the dance hall for events.

It was a great Knoxville experience, and one I was able to enjoy with my Aunt. I say everyone should GO!

If you go: Hours M-F 10am to 6 pm, Sa 10am to 4 pm; 2836 Clinton Hwy, Powell, Tennessee 37849. (865) 945-3595.
