Hometown Food: Savelli’s Italian Restaurant

sevellisSavelli’s Italian Restaurant is a quaint, family-owned, landmark restaurant that has been a staple in the local Knoxville dining scene for more than 20 years. The pretty blondes you’ll see running about, taking care of the place are the dynamic mother/daughter duo Elizabeth and Kat. Many regulars have watched Kat grow up and Elizabeth thrive in the Bearden/Sutherland community.

Savelli’s loyal fan base is a testament to the fact that they serve up some great Italian meals. You can preview the menu online, but I would order the lobster ravioli followed by my favorite dessert – tiramisu. Savelli’s offers traditional favorites like chicken parmesan and a stromboli (that’s literally the size of a small baby), a nice selection of seafood dishes and even some vegetarian specialties. Good to know is that it is a BYO beer and wine destination, with a $3 per person corking fee.

Savelli’s is a great place for birthday celebrations and romantic dinners for two. It’s small and intimate, so call ahead if you’re dining with a larger group or on a holiday, such as Valentine’s Day.

Location: 3055 Sutherland Ave., Knoxville, TN 37919.
