If you’re ever dining at Lakside Tavern as you look out across the lake you may notice a railroad with some buildings just beyond. For those that remember Petticoat Junction the view will likely bring back memories.
For those not familiar, what you see is the little town of Old Concord. It is situated east of the turnabout of northshore and concord road, but it is easy to miss. The collection of old buildings have been seeing a revitalization in the last few years and many of the 100-year old structures have been brought back to life.
My mother used to get her mail at the local post office and gas at the now closed bait shop (now a great taco truck can be found most days in the old gas stations parking lot). Anyway, next time you’re out for a drive or up for a little adventure be sure to drive through town and don’t miss a stop at the Old Concord Art Gallery too.
